Coming off a banner NFL year and hoping to repeat as the site NFL champ. Pumped the season isn't too far. Here are my rankings heading into the season with a small blurb for each team:
1. Rams -- Most well-rounded roster in the league, no weaknesses, championship experience now. They should be the favorites.
2. Bucs – This probably is their last run with Brady, if I had to guess. Assuming health, they feel like the team most level with the Rams across the board. Weak division will help them.
3. Bengals – They invested in their offensive line this offseason, unusual for a Cincy team. They have the best arsenal playmakers in the league, and their defense is very solid. With Burrow under center, they are the best team in the AFC
4. Chiefs – Tyreke loss hurts, but they still have a solid amount of weapons and I expect them to be better defensively
5. Bills – Hype has gotten a little out of control, but they are pretty loaded. Allen is going to need to be more consistent this year for them to go for home field, etc.
6. 49ers – Could have the best defensive in the league, and I think Lance is going to unlock a lot offensively. He has twice the arm Jimmy G has. He will end up the best QB of this class.
7. Ravens – They got absolutely decimated by injuries last year. I expect them to be the team in the AFC North to give Cincy some trouble. Lamar should have a nice year.
8. Packers – The lack of perimeter threats is going to be what ruins this team, aside from their annual postseason disappointment at Lambeau. Their defense should be awesome though.
9. Patriots – Lot of noise around this team/lower expectations. I still think they have an awesome defense and they will win a lot of games with an improved Mac. Never bet against New England
10. Titans – They have a really nice and balanced roster, but Tannehill is very limited and the main cog holding them back from being a true contender
11. Raiders – An underrated team because of the AFC West overhype. Adams is a huge addition to them; they will be able to overcome some serious defensive holes because of their passing game.
12. Cowboys – Hard to trust this team. Feel like another year of beating up on a bad division, and then coming up short against more talented rosters. I do think their defense will take a step forward, and maybe Dak takes a leap?
13. Cardinals – They came crashing back down to Earth after a flukey start last year. They are a solid team, but too many holes on both sides to contend and it’s hard to trust Kyler staying healthy at that size.
14. Chargers – Another offseason of Charger overhype. I like Herbert, but this defense is pretty comically overrated. They’re a fringe playoff team in a tough division because of their talent, but this is a classic Paper Tiger
15. Colts – See above. This is the other overhyped Paper Tiger, though not as talent. Matt Ryan is pretty washed, and they have a weak receiving corp. Another fringe playoff team
16. Broncos – I like their defense, but they don’t have much on offense. They were pretty anemic last year, their wideouts aren’t that good. Russ helps make them a little better, but I don’t really see them as a Super Bowl contender.
17. Steelers – They just don’t have much talent, and they’re questionable at QB. Their defense should keep them in a lot of games, and Tomlin is an upper tier coach. So they’ll be frisky. Maybe they compete for the 7th seed.
18. Browns – The lack of talent at QB will bite them. Also think the Watson trade has put a cloud over them. Have to wonder how it affects the locker room. Also, Stefanski kinda got exposed last year. His play-calling is whack.
19. Vikings – They have some serious playmaking talent, but not sold on their defense and reallllllllly not sold on Cousins in big spots.
20. Dolphins – Tyreke might be saying nice things about Tua, but he’ll miss Mahommes soon enough when the ball is 5-10 yards short of him on deep routes. The hot run they had was more of an aberration than a sign of things to come. They’re just not that talented.
21. Eagles – Kind of weird they made the playoffs last year. I’m not as down on Hurts as most, but man their defense is absolute garbage. Cowboys should handle them well.
22. Saints – Surprised a team like New Orleans has been so reluctant to go after a big QB. They really lack offensive punch. Winston coming off an injury, plus Taysom Hill is simply not a competent NFL quarterback. They’ll be plucky, but they need a pretty large upgrade at QB to be competitive.
23. Bears – They lack offensive talent, but I think they can be competitive enough with a solid defense and an improved Fields. No playoffs, and maybe not a great record, but they’ll be better
24. Seahawks – This could be higher if they get Jimmy G (not that he’s that great, but they have absolute trash). They have too many holes to in the trenches to compete in the best division in the NFL, but I don’t think they’re quite bottom of the barrel NFL team yet.
25. Panthers – McCaffery is nice, but he will not play this whole season. Rest of the offense is pretty lackluster, weak O-Line, weapons, etc.. I think Baker is an upgrade, but he’s limited with a much weaker roster than used to. Defense is pretty solid though, so wouldn’t be shocked if they are competitive.
26. Commanders – Got a feeling Wentz is gonna be kinda a disaster here. Not good in the trenches, and pretty bad on the back end of their defense.
27. Lions – They were feisty a lot last year, but they didn’t upgrade much talent-wise so they should still be pretty bad. I also don’t get the love affair with this coach.
28. Jaguars – Trevor will take a step forward. I view him as having the potential to be good, but not great. They have a rebuilding roster though, so not much faith they can win more than 5 games.
29. Giants – Too anemic offensively to have any sort of success. One of those teams where you wonder what their strategy is for rebuilding. Is Daniel Jones really still your QB? Like WTF? It’s like a worse version of the Saints
30. Falcons – I think they’ll be OK on offense, but defense is a gargantuan dumpster fire. Lot of 35-21 losses coming.
31. Jets – Wilson is talented, but not sure how he can have success in a decent division with such a bad offensive line and no weapons. Same ol’ Jets
32. Texans – I have faith that Houston will be good in a couple years because it’s not a bad organization, but they’re too young and not exactly shy about the fact they’re in a rebuild. Question is can Mills start in this league long term
